AFRICA XI vs WORLD XI....PEACE CHARITY MATCH

Renowned football stars have arrived in Accra for Wednesday’s Michael Essien Peace Charity Match.


Chelsea quartet Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, Ashley Cole and Florent Malouda touched down at the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday afternoon.


They were joined by former Arsenal player Freddie Ljungberg, former Africa and World best player of the Year George Oppong-Weah, Emmanuel Adebayor


Ghana defender John Painstil and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie were on board the flight


Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has joined his former team mates for the charity match.


Chelsea youth defender Daniel Pappoe was also spotted in the pack of players on arrival.


An African XI select side will play a World XI select side at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium on African Unity Day.

http://www.supersport.com/ wrote On Wednesday, African Union Peace Ambassador Michael Essien will lead out a combined 11 of Africa’s living legends past and present against a World XI in a match to raise awareness of all the peace initiatives across the continent.

The match, to be broadcast live on SuperSport, coincides with Africa Day, the annual commemoration of the 1963 founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), presently recognised as the Africa Union (AU), and will form part of the continent's Africa Day celebrations.

Tony Yeboah, Kalusha Bwalya, and Daniel Amokachi are among the African heroes who will turn back the clock on their stellar careers to once again dazzle the many fans who will be in attendance at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra, Ghana.

The current players include Samuel Eto’o, Emmanuel Adebayor, Asamoah Gyan and Didier Drogba.


Essien’s Chelsea teammate Ashley Cole will lead out the World XI which boasts the likes of Marcel Desailly, Nigel De Jongh and Florent Malouda.
