-Mike Tyson has been barred from New Zealand by government ministers who revoked an entry permit for his upcoming speaking tour.
At first the former heavyweight champion was granted special permission to enter the country despite his rape conviction. However, the decision was reversed because a children’s health charity withdrew its support for his controversial visit.
Tyson’s promoter Max Markson says Mike is “disappointed” by the Government’s decision to revoke his visa.
Markson says that although Tyson has been convicted of rape he has ‘rebuilt his life.’
In 1992 Tyson was convicted of raping teenager Desiree Washington in Indiana and served three years in prison.
