The chairmen of Football Associations of the
36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have lambasted a report in a
section of the media on Monday, which claimed that the forum ‘drilled’ NFF
President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari during its meeting in Abuja on Saturday, 23
February.
Chairman of the Zamfara State Football
Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who spoke on behalf of the forum,
dismissed the report as pure fiction, having no semblance to what transpired at
the meeting and completely in the imagination of the reporters.
“At no time during the meeting did the forum
call on Alhaji Aminu Maigari to explain anything, talk less of ‘drilling’ him.
The report is outright falsehood, and the reporters should be ashamed of
themselves for such blatant lie.
“The meeting was a family affair. We
reviewed the Super Eagles’ successful
campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and commended the NFF
President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, the Executive Committee, Management and the
team for a wonderful job.”
Gusau stated that the forum also backed the
NFF to win many more trophies for Nigeria from the several competitions taking
place this year, given its seriousness and commitment to uplifting Nigeria football.
“We had only words of praise and
encouragement for the NFF President, his Executive Committee members and Management.
The report that we ‘drilled’ President Maigari is a lie from the pit of hell.
It is important that journalists crosscheck their facts before going to press.”
