Speaking during a courtesy call in his office by the leadership of NFF,
which presented the glittering trophy to the football-loving Police supremo,
the Inspector-General minced no words in saying that the skills and technical
ability of the present NFF Executive Committee and Management, as well as the
discipline and dedication of Nigerian players, would bring more smiles to
Nigerian faces in the near future.
“I congratulate you very much on this triumph which has been achieved
despite all kinds of unnecessary distractions and other challenges associated
with the running of football in the country.
“I have no doubt that with even greater commitment and focus, your
administration has the wherewithal to plan well for Nigeria to qualify for the
2014 FIFA World Cup finals and perform well at
the finals,” said IGP Abubakar.
In his opening address, NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari commended
the Inspector-General for his solid support all the time, and noted that
victory at the Cup of Nations in South Africa was achieved thanks to the
prayers and support of all Nigerians.
“We praise you for always being there for the Nigeria Football
Federation and the moral support you give all the time by being present at
crucial games involving the National Team.”
The Inspector-General, a former Board Member of then Nigeria Football
Association, promised to continue to support the NFF and the Super Eagles, and indeed other National
