AFROBASKET 2013: "We will win the Trophy" - Al-Farouk Aminu

The Nigeria Basketball Federation in a send forth reception held in Abuja on Saturday, wished the D'Tigers a smooth outing in the Afrobasket2013.

The event which was attended by the sports minister of Nigeria recorded a turn out of all the 12 invited players for the tournament, back room staff and the board members of the Nigeria basketball federation.


The Sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi told SPORTDIVA.NET that there's no team better than the Nigerian Team in Africa, he said "I am confident in the team departing the country, I believe the team is the most talented African basketball team, we can point out 1 or 2 countries like Angola but no other team has it like the D'Tigers"

Captain of the Team, a board member of the Basketball Federation Olumide Oyedeji said the team consist of talented players that can win the tournament, he said "We have incredible talents in the team and we are here for a teamwork, we have 1 goal 1 spirit and it's all about winning the tournament"

Head coach of the Basketball Team, Ayo Bakare said there are well prepared for the tournament, he said " We have had a good preparations, talented players who has played for top leagues around the world, we have a blend of good players we need talent, chemistry, commitments they're very committed to their cause"

Speaking to SPORTDIVA.NET an NBA Player, Al Farouk Aminu said they will Win the tournament, he said "We will come back with the trophy, we love our country our goal is to win y giving our best"

Talking about his expectations, Coach Ayo said "We are not automatically entitled to the championship we need more of aspiration not inspiration, we want to give Nigeria a title in Afrobasket"

Speaking furthermore with the Team doctor said they're in good shape " we don't have any health challennge for now, they're all in good shape and also in good frame of mind physically, morally and mentally"

The NBBF President, Tijani Umar assured the country of readiness, he said "The team is ready and well prepared, there's no team in Abidjan that's better than our team"


The basketball team will depart for Abidjan where FIBA AFRIQUE Afrobasket 2013 a major tournament in Africa and the team will play their first match on Wednesday.
