The NFF board say they find out about important issues from the papers.

The leadership of the Nigeria Football Association has been accused by some of the Association’s board members of taking major decisions without consulting the board.

The NFA has 12 executive members and major decisions discussed by any committee are expected to be taken to the board for final vetting before they are carried out.

Some board members who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES expressed their shock and disbelief at the fact that some decisions were taken without informing the board.

A board member who pleaded anonymity said, “Yes the NFF (NFA) President and Chris Green (the Head of Technical Committee) have been making major decisions on the board without carrying members along; so many things we only learn from news reports.

Taribo West dismissed age cheat allegation

 

Retired central defender Taribo West has dismissed the allegation written against him about age cheat

“I think he is out of his mind. If I were 40 in 2002/2003 (season) as he claimed, how old would be now? He is not a serious man,” Taribo countered in an interview with Complete Sports.

“After I left the club, I still played for seven or so more years at the top level. I don’t know how that is possible if I was indeed 40 then as he claimed.

“I am just going to ignore him because his allegation is standing logic on its head.”

But the Croatian media have also alleged that Taribo lied about his age when he tried to join Rijeka club.

The star defender said he was 32 then, but club doctors suggested he could have been about 44 after an examination revealed his knees showed he was much older than he claimed.

Ondo state Football Agency (ODSFA appoint new executives

The coordinator of Ondo state Football Agency (ODSFA) Mike Idoko in a view to professionalise its operations and in furtherance to the reorganization process  of the agency has made a couple of appointments which were to be implemented with immediate effect across all sectors of the Agency. 

The newly appointees and their designation:

Rasheed Balogun, who had previously served with ODSFA as the Team Manager of Sunshine stars a couple of years back and currently serves with Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt was brought back to serve as Team manager of Sunshine stars. 

Mr. Napoleon will serve as Coach of the team. Senior Coach Samuel Abimbola who resumed office earlier this season still remains as the senior coach of Sunshine stars. 

Kayode Julius, a former player of Sunshine stars has been appointed as the Senior coach of Rising Stars, Adeyemi Kayode, previously the coach of the academy have been posted to serve as coach of Rising stars, Folorunsho stephen John, a goalkeeper trainer will serve with Rising stars, Mr Ale Olarenwaju, a physical trainer will also serve with Rising stars. 

Mrs. Wemimo Matthew, the former Team Manager of Sunshine Queens has been redeployed. She will now serve as the Senior Coach of the team. 

Kayode Olofin, former goalkeeper trainer with Rising stars has been posted to serve with Sunshine Queens as a goalkeeper trainer.

Brazil 2014 Qualifier: FIFA orders all Group F teams to play same day

World football-governing body, FIFA has ruled that all matches in the
Super Eagles’ 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group F must be played on
the dates of June 5 and June 12.

Concerned that Flames of Malawi, on same five points as the Super
Eagles would have undue advantage should they play three days after
Nigeria, the Nigeria Football Federation wrote to FIFA last week to
consider the options of all teams playing on the same day or on the
weekends as originally scheduled.

FIFA has now confirmed that while Nigeria take on Kenya at the Moi
International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Wednesday, June 5, Malawi
would also be playing Namibia’s Brave Warriors in Blantyre.

Also, while the Eagles take the pitch against the Brave Warriors in
Windhoek on Wednesday, June 12, Malawi would also be hosting Kenya’s
Harambee Stars in Blantyre.

Samir Nasri fined for motoring offence

Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri, 25,  has been banned from driving for six months because he was owing fines slapped on him for over speeding.

Carlos Tevez, Nasris Teammate got a 250 community service order and was also has also been banned for six months because of motoring offences which he committed.

Nasri, is expected to pay £1,900 but won it back after signing a declaration saying he did not know his Mercedes has been caught on camera speeding on three occasions

September 2011, it was caught at 70mph in a 40 zone and then in October 2011 at 39 in a 30 zone. 

He was represented in court rather than appearing himself. Nasri's solicitor, Nick Terry, said: 'Simply, he had a poor system of administration. 

'In this case, the defendant received the notices some months after the driving. It took some time for the notices to be sent out.

'There will be a disqualification today, and he’s aware of that. He’s not driving at present and I will inform him immediately after the hearing of that disqualification.

'I don’t have details of his income, but suffice to say he can pay whatever fine is deemed suitable by the courts.' his Lawyer concluded
