National Sports Commission releases timelines for elections into the board of Federations

 















The National Sports Commission (NSC) wishes to announce the time schedule for elections into the boards of the various non-concessioned sporting Federations.

The elections shall commence with Zonal Elections this month and round off with the national elections in May 2013.

Time Schedule

April 10 - 15, 2013: The collection of Nomination Forms begins.  All interested aspirants are to pick the Nomination Forms for free at the national office/headquarters of the Federation they wish to contest for.

April 16 -17, 2013: Submission of Nomination Forms. All aspirants are required to submit the completed Nomination Forms to the national office/headquarters of their respective Federations.

April 19, 2013:  Screening of aspirants and the announcement of the preliminary list of qualified candidates by the Various Zonal Electoral Committees

April 20 -24, 2013: Petitions/Appeals arising from the screening exercise. Aggrieved aspirants should send their appeals or petitions to the NSC Abuja office.

April 27, 2013: Announcement of Final List of qualified candidates

April 30, 2013: Zonal elections into the boards of the various sporting Federations will take place at the headquarters of the 6 Geo-political Zones of the NSC: Ibadan, Benin, Enugu, Kaduna, Jos and Bauchi


May 1 – 6, 2013: Petitions/Appeals arising from the Zonal Elections


The elections for the positions of President and Vice President of the various sporting Federations shall take place in Abuja on May 14, 2013.  The swearing-in ceremony would take place on May 17, 2013 after all appeals or petitions arising from the elections would have been dealt with.

The NSC wishes to assure all stakeholders that it has put in place systems to ensure fair and credible elections at both the zonal and national levels.

Interested stakeholders who wish to participate in the elections are advised to consult the published guidelines for information regarding eligibility and modalities for the conduct of the elections.
