CAF: How and when are the Nigerian club sides got it right at continental championships by Raji Kazeem

Nigerian representative in the on going CAF continental championship such as the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE and CONFEDERATION CUP are crashing out one after the other. LOBI STARS of Makurdi and HEARTLAND of Owerri crashed out in the CONFEDERATION cup while the Nigerian champion KANO PILLARS also left the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE even before the group stage.

Last season in CAF competitions it was only a Nigerian club, SUNSHINE STARS of Akure that made it to the group stage before they were knocked out in the semi final of CAF champions League as both HEARTLAND of Owerri and WARRI WOLVES were edged out in the CAF CONFEDERATION cup while DOLPHINS were also knocked out in the CAF champions league.

This season has spectacular though in Nigeria but the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions and leader KANO PILLARS would not be able to continue their rythm in the continental championship because they have threw away a 4:1 lead in the first leg and losing 0:3 against AC LEOPARDS in Congo yesterday.

RANGERS INT'L are a step further to the group stage courtesy of a 2 nil victory over VITAL'O of Burundi in Enugu but LOBI STARS were demolished and whitewashed in Maputo as they lost 1:7 after a 3:1 victory in Bauchi. The Naze Millionaire HEARTLAND FC left the country on match day and got walked over by host US BITHAM of Gabon although they have wrote CAF to explain the situation and they are waiting for CAF authority to rule in their favor.
