EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MERCY AKIDE-UDOH

The Ex-Super Falcons Star who was the first African Woman Footballer of the year in 2002 and also a FIFA Ambassador amongst other achievements  open up to Wole Alakija of City People about life after retirement, Life as a Mother, Wife and Coach and above all about her US citizenship after 12years of stay in the US. Excerpts:

Wole: Last week, you were confirmed a United States citizen after so many years. Congrats
Mercy: I'm very happy. I give glory to God. I have been here for a long time. My husband and i should hold on that i will make it someday

Wole: How do you feel now?
Mercy: On top of the world

Wole: How long have you been in America?
Mercy: 12 years now


Wole: You have stopped playing active soccer, what are you doing presently?
Mercy: I have been coaching for the past 7years now. I Coach a Team calles Beach FC based in Virginia where i live

Wole: You were not contracted by the Footbal Authorities?
Mercy I dont go where i am not invited nonetheless, i will still be at the World Cup

Wole: Doing What?
Mercy: As a FIFA Ambassador

Wole: Your husband, Colin lives in Nigeria where he works while you are thousand of miles away dont you miss him?
Mercy: A great deal but we always make out time to see each other. I come home when the season is over in the US and he also makes out time to come over. Im expecting him soon. The fact is that ever before i got married, we both knew how its going to be, sometimes we talk about it and i know that God is the only one giving us the strentgh to cope.

Wole: .....and the kids?
Mercy: They are doing fine, I have 2 girls

Wole: Are they going to play soccer?
Mercy: I think the first one will but the second looks unlikely

Wole: Do you nurse the ambition of coaching the Super Falcons?
Mercy: If it happens like that, then its Gods will. i have to other things im involved with presently though

Wole: How is America treating you?
Mercy: Yankee is fine no problems
