The South American teams will meet on Wednesday at Fortaleza.
The Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, has announced that English referee, Howard Webb, will take charge of the Brazil-Mexico game in Fortaleza on Wednesday.
Host Brazil go in to Wednesday’s game as Group A leaders having defeated Asian Champions,Japan, 3-0 in the opening fixture of this year’s FIFA Confederations Cup; while Mexico were edged 2-1 by Italy.
In June 2009, Webb was one of the referees at the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa where he took charge of two games.
One of the games which incidentally involved Brazil was marred with controversy as Webb awarded a last minute penalty kick to the Samba Boys which saw them beat Egypt 4-3.
That nonetheless, Webb has handled several top games including the final of the 2010 World Cup and the 2010 UEFA Champions League final.
