Although the Samurai Blue are already eliminated from
the Confederations Cup, the 24-year-old playmaker is determined to put
on a show in their final group game
Japan let a two-goal lead slip to lose 4-3 to Italy on Wednesday night, which means the clash against the Mexicans has become a dead rubber as Brazil and the Azzurri contest who will top Group A.
Nevertheless, Kagawa is confident his side will not take their foot off the gas in their last game of the tournament and is hoping for a similar attacking performance to the one that pushed Italy so close.
"We can't move on to the next round but we still want to play with feeling," Kagawa told reporters.
"We know it'll be difficult but this match will help prepare us for the next step. It was the same way against Italy, but if each player's mental condition is good then we'll play good football.
"Like in the Italy match we want to press forward, and pressure [Mexico] as a team if we can and attack aggressively. We were winning 2-0 against Italy and lost, so we can't let that happen again. It was a good experience.
"If we can score 3 or 4 goals we have to take those chances. I want to challenge Mexico on the attack."
