One on One with Steve Sodje

Sodje Sports Foundation is a non-profit making charity organization for the less priviledged with kids in mind, this Foundation has been doing well in the United Kingdom and in my recent interview with Steve Sodje he open up to me on the way forward, how they wish to make impact in the lives of Nigerian kids, their Challenges and their Achivements, please read on



Q: WHO IS STEVE SODJE?
A: I am an Ex-football player in the UK and I am part of the Sodje family from Warri Delta State in Nigeria who have produces other produced various other fooball siblings including Efe , Sam , Akpo and Onome sodje, I' m currently running the Sodje Sports Foundation a UK based charity Organization.

Q: YOU SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF SIBLINGS THAT ARE INTO SPORT, WHO ARE THEY AND WHAT ARE THEY DOING AT THE MOMENT?
A: Its a UK based charity Organization set up by Me and my Brothers to help disadvantaged kids in the UK and Nigeria, we work with various organisiation to arrange Sport Kit and Equipment to be taking back to Africa to distribute amongst these children.

Q: WHAT ARE THESE KIDS STAND TO GAIN THROUGH THE FOUNDATION APART FROM THE SPORT KIT?
A: Well, we believe sport plays a big part in giving these kids goals in life, Sport is a main tool to engage kids we hope through sports we can keep them in school and educate them, there are over 8 million children in nigeria outside of the education system, so we believe as sporting role models we can encourage them to stay in education.

Q: WHO ARE YOUR PRESENT SPONSORS?
A: Currently we have partnership with the English FA, The PFA, Boots for Africa, RBS Bank, Kato enterprise, Sky Sport, BBC and of course the house of parliament we are currently in the process of discussing some new potential ones.





Q: How do you Fund your Charity Projects?
A: Currenly we are funding through our personal funds, as well as various fundraising events we do in the UK, we do however are looking for Nigerian Sponsors and funders if we are to reach all the deprives towns in the nigeria

Q: WHO ARE THE POTENTIAL SPONSORS?
A: At present we can disclose that information as the companies wish not to be mentioned but once we agree any future sponsors we make announcement.

Q: WHAT ARE YOUR UPCOMING EVENTS?
A: well, in the UK we have just had an event at the house of lords on the 4th of july to showcase our work, it was attended by over 10 MPs and as well as stephen o'brien the Minister to Africa; we also have a dinner/ gala at Manchester on the 21st September; we hope to launch the foundation in Nigeria in 2012 and we are currently looking for a sponsor for this event.
